Frequently asked questions
What is the AGPI Association?
The Association for Rental Property Management (AGPI) is the first (please see the Legal section for more info and legal status) non-governmental organization created to support the business environment in the short and long-term rental sector. The purpose of the association is to provide its members with all the resources they need to succeed in this field. It is an initiative created by us for us
How can I become a member?
To become a member, all you need to do is access the "Become a Member" section and complete the membership application form. Although it is not mandatory, it would be very helpful if you could also take a few minutes to complete the interest form. This will help us better understand the sentiment in the market and allow us to select initiatives based on the preferences of our members
How can I become a sponsor and what is the difference from being a member?
To sponsor the association's efforts, simply access the "Become a Sponsor or Partner" section and complete the contact form. There are various ways you can support (sponsor) the association, so we will get in touch with you afterwards to identify the best way to collaborate together. Options include completing Form 230 for redirecting 2 / 3.5% of personal income tax; completing Form 107 for redirecting 20% of corporate income tax; direct sponsorships of goods/services or financial contributions; etc. Sponsors also have the status of members and the right to vote in the general assembly
How can I become a partner and what is the difference from being a member or sponsor?
Our partners are represented by legal entities that wish to support the association's efforts but will not have the right to vote in the general assembly. Partners can sponsor the association and benefit from advertising and presence in the association's newsletter and website. By partner, we mean any entity that wants to support AGPI's strategy and contributes resources in this regard.
Why should I become a member?
For all these reasons and many more:
Representation and Collective Voice: Members will have, for the first time, a voice (Increasingly stronger and strengthen by membership growth) in front of local authorities or other organizations, being able to make their needs and concerns heard, thus paving the way for real changes that benefit the rental community.
Industry Influence: Through the association, members can contribute to the development and establishment of standards and regulations in the short-term rental industry.
One place: Everything you need in one single location. No confusion, everything is organized and at your disposal.
Resources and Information: The association can provide access to relevant resources and information for the short, medium, and long-term rental industry. Most of the time, individuals or legal entities engaged in this field either do not have all the correct and complete information at their disposal or spend a lot of time identifying them. We aim to facilitate this process.
Training and Professional Development: Training sessions and workshops to help members improve their skills in property management and business in general.
Networking: The opportunity to network and collaborate with other companies and/or professionals in the industry. It is the only location in Romania that will provide these connections in such a way that members can access a central hub to identify any partner they need.
Access to Specialized Resources and Tools: The association can provide access to specialized tools or technologies for property management or to increase operational efficiency. The service providers we want to identify for you offer a wide range of necessary services such as automated check in sheets, website design, channel managers, etc.
Legal Assistance and Counseling: Members could benefit from legal assistance or counseling on rental and property issues, providing them with greater security in their activities.
Recommendations and Referrals: The association will facilitate the exchange of recommendations between members, which could generate new business opportunities or collaborations.
Participation in Events and Conferences: The opportunity to participate in events and conferences organized by the association, which can provide networking and learning opportunities. We will provide both live and virtual events.
Insurance coverage: currently there is no product in Romania covering damages produced by the guests. We plan to change that.
Who can become a member?
Any individual or legal entity active in the real estate rental sector or able to demonstrate an intention to commence such activity soon is eligible. This includes not only property owners but also co-hosts and all firms that market products or services of interest, such as property management companies, cleaning services, specialized software providers, consumables, and other necessary products, etc.
Can I become a member only if I am already a property owner and active in this field?
No, you can become a member even if you plan to engage in this activity. All you need to do is provide us with some details about your initiative to confirm the validity of your intention. If your plan is still at the idea stage, we invite you to join us when you have made some progress towards initiating the activity.
Are there different types of membership?
No! Considering AGPI's values, we are all equal. There are no different types of membership; however, depending on the type of participation, the annual fee will vary. Why? Because the added value provided by AGPI applies directly proportionally to your business. Therefore, if we manage to obtain a tax reduction, a single-property owner will benefit from a cost reduction of x RON; while another owner with 10 properties will benefit from a reduction of 10x RON.
How does AGPI contribute to creating an optimal legal framework for my business?
The Association will filter members' feedback and strategically initiate various proposals and plans to address identified issues. Although we are aware of the magnitude of the efforts required, we propose a holistic and planned approach over a determined period (each year we will prioritize certain initiatives) to create a feasible plan. We do not believe that a too rapid or direct approach can succeed, so we address this request to our members: to be patient and to support the agreed strategy. We cannot solve everything at once, but we promise that we can solve a little bit every day!
What types of properties are eligible for registration within the association?
If you are an owner or co-host for any type of property that can be offered for rent, you are welcome. We invite you to become part of the association regardless of whether you own a hotel, motel, guesthouse, aparthotel, boutique hotel, apartment, house, caravan, camping site, glamping site, and many more. Any structure configured to provide accommodation is eligible.
What services and resources are available to members?
We invite you to review the AGPI website to learn more about the resources available directly or indirectly through our partners.
Can AGPI help me stay informed about industry news?
Yes, our promise to the community is to make every possible effort to publish information about news and changes in the industry as quickly as possible. These will be posted on the association's website or transmitted to members through the newsletter and other means of communication that the association will use for this purpose.
Once I become a member, is there any obligation to remain in the association for a certain period of time?
No, you can choose to end your membership status by submitting a request to our email address. Previously paid fees will not be refunded.
Is there an obligation to participate actively or allocate time or resources to the association?
No, you can participate as much as you want or as much as your time allows. We want our members to be as involved as they desire.
If I want to leave the association, can I rejoin later?
Yes, you can reapply for membership, and your application will be reviewed based on the specific situation. If membership was revoked for violating the Internal Regulations, it cannot be resumed.
How does being a member benefit me?
Like in any other field, no change can happen unless there is a union willing to fight for those changes. We all know the problems and obstacles we face every day, so if you become a member, we can help each other overcome these obstacles together. Without action, nothing will change for the better. Additionally:
It feels like a chance to finally get my voice heard and be able to raise topics of interest as well as try to improve the weight of all the taxes that I need to pay
It improves tourism and perhaps my bookings
I can be part of something, I am able to meet likeminded people
I can stay informed with latest news
I can find relevant info about suppliers, taxes etc.
One single location instead of 100 groups. Organized, all in one place
Collectively we can negotiate better deals, discounts
I can be protected
I can obtain insurance to cover the damages caused by my guests
I am able to submit my concerns and see someone taking action
I can volunteer and donate to an entity that can actually help my business
Do I need classified properties to become a member?
No, your data is private, and we manage it in accordance with GDPR, so there is no obligation in this regard. Although we support an ethical and fair business environment, the association's purpose is not to ostracize members who may not be up to date with all formalities or taxes but, on the contrary, to inform them about these and, of course, to support an equal environment for all.
Will the membership fee change?
The membership fee may change over time, depending on inflation and other economic factors. These details will always be public, and of course, you can choose to end your membership if you no longer wish to pay the fee.
If I need assistance, how can I obtain the respective information? What if I have an emergency?
You can contact us through the contact form. We promise to respond as quickly as possible. Also, if there is a major emergency, we advise you to contact us using the email address or phone number.
What are the policies and procedures for ensuring the confidentiality of members' data?
Personal data is processed in accordance with the relevant legislation, GDPR policies, and the advice of our partner law firm, so we assure you of the confidentiality and proper use of such data.
What are the general terms and conditions?
We will send our Internal Regulations to all our members.
